Parliament's Committee for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in its report on "Working of Integrated Tribal Development Projects in Rajasthan" has recommended strengthening of the administrative machinery, including more frequent field visits, for better implementation of projects in the State. The 23rd report, placed in the Lok Sabha by Ratilal Kalidas Varma who chaired the committee, noted that the Governor's report on implementation of various schemes for development and welfare of the Scheduled Tribes could not be sent to the Centre for the year 1992-93. The Committee points out that the Tribal Advisory Council of Rajasthan had met only once in a year during 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2000. It suggested that the TAC meetings are an important instrument to advise the Government on important matters concerning tribal development.
