As per the draft report while percentage of residential land use has just doubled between 1987 and 2002, a negative growth has been registered in area of open land and parks in Lucknow. Not only this, the rapid urbanisation has also resulted in excessive exploitation of natural resources. Result being a number of water bodies located in the city have either vanished or are shrinking with an alarming speed.
