PDS quota for poor increased

The Cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) raised the monthly quota of ration for the poorest of the poor under the Antodaya scheme to 35 kg per family. It also approved the Rs 535-crore Centrally-sponsored scheme for livestock health and disease control during the 10th Plan, according to an official release said. The livestock health and disease control scheme will have four components namely, assistance to state for control of animal diseases, professional efficiency development, national project on rinderpest eradication and foot-and-mouth disease control programme.
