Pearl project to detect pollutants using laster system. Three US universities have drawn up an ambitious project plan to develop a ship-based research laboratory with a high-power laser system to detect pollutants from natural and artificial sources and for a host of other applications including detection of chemical warfare agents, unexploded ammunition and illegal drug manufacturing units.
