Delhi government, driven by court orders, is on overdrive to clean up the air. Buses and commercial vehicles, which have been plying for more than eight years, are being forced off the roads. The ban came into force on April 1 and the CPCB has come out with the claim that there is less sulphur dioxide in the air, especially at the ITO crossing. May be true. But one only has to look at the pavements to see the reason. More people were walking on the days the CPCB was monitoring the air. Taxis autorickshaws and buses were on strike.
