The UNESCO decision to grant an amount of US $20,000 as a preparatory assistance for a dossier in support of the Majuli Island Protection and Development Council's (MIPADC) demand to include Majuli in Assam, the largest river island on the earth, in the World Heritage Site list has generated much enthusiasm among the people of this island, who identify themselves as Majulials.
