With the participation of local people and technical help from the authorities, the once treeless villages along the international border in Jammu district have been converted into a Green Zone. Till some years back, due to annual floods, the areas near the border along the Tawi river in Jammu district had turned into an expanding wasteland. the areas have been reclaimed and afforested by the local villagers.
