With the deadline for the first phasing out of diesel buses on their head, transporters are in a bit of a soup as they are far from getting CNG buses to make up for the diesel ones. The Supreme Court had said that the diesel bus fleet had to be phased out by January 31, 2002. However, the order had also said that an equal number of CNG buses had to be simultaneously introduced.
