House hunters in the next millennium shouldn't be surprised if in place of the old, dark and heavy "junglee sag" door and window frames, you see soft, light pine ones. The Bureau of Indian Standards has given NZ$550m Fletcher Challenge Forests, New Zealand, the nod for use of its pine in making door and window frames for the building and construction industry. "If you can't have teak, use pine," seems to be New Zealand's message to the Indian timber market. Three years back, India was nowhere on the agenda of the land of the world largest pine plantation.
