The Maharashtra government's move to construct a fifth-generation aquarium at the site where the famous Taraporevala aquarium is currently housed has attracted flak from activists and competitors alike. While the activists are opposing the aquarium on several grounds, chiefly the razing of the Taraprevala aquarium to accomodate the underground aquarium and the high ticket price projected for the new aquarium, an Australian company has opposed the manner in which the contract was allegedly awarded to Singapore-based Alliance Technology.
