Battling age-old superstitions, government apathy and ignorance the Villages In Partnership (VIP) programme is trying to build up community feeling and self-reliance amongst villagers in Andhra Pradesh. The programme was launhced in 1988 in the villages of Mahbubnagar district. It seeks to unite villagers and lessen their dependence on other agencies, inlcuding the government.
