Since the temperature has risen beyond the long dry spell in Chamba, region has increased chances of forest fires. A few stray instances in some parts of the districts have been noticed in the past few days. But if the present dry spell continues, more fatal cases of forest fires are likely to happen. A study of forest fires conducted by experts reveals that the forest fires are caused either accidentally or intentionally but the chances of intentional fires have been increasing for the past some time due to a popular belief that by burning the forests, a fresh flugh of grass will come up at the onset of the monsoon. There is also a belief among people that a smoke may bring about rains.
