Plan to conserve forests okayed

A Rs 15 crore Catchment Area Treatment plan has been approved for execution at a meeting of forest officials of Mandi and Kullu districts and engineers of the Larji Hydel Project with the view to conserving forests and prolonging the life of the hydel projects in the Beas basin. The total catchment area identified for conservation and plantation over a period of 10 years is 4,921 sq km of which 700 sq km is the most vulnerable and will be taken up for immediate attention.
