The Union Minister for Environment and Forest, Prof Saifuddin Soz, announced that Rs 291 crore would be spent on the preservation of the Dal Lake in Srinagar in a phased manner . In addition to this, the Planning Commission has agreed to sanction Rs 87 crore for the acquisition of property and structures within the lake body and out of this Rs 20 crore was released last week.
