Plan to tackle viral diseases

Warangal, July 16: A special action plan was prepared to prevent the possible outbreak of viral diseases in the district during the monsoon season. The action plan stressed the importance of maintaining better sanitation, chlorination of water bodies, and creation of awareness on personal hygiene. Special epidemic control units were also set up at the division level in the district and doctors, para-medical staff were kept on alert across the district with special importance in rural areas. All the water bodies including the borewells and the open wells were being chlorinated and the bleaching process is also being done. District collector B. Janardhan Reddy said that mosquito nets were also being distributed to select villages in Agency areas, which witnessed the outbreak of viral diseases during the last couple of years. He said instructions were already given to the medical and health staff to stay put in their respective work places and offer round-the-clock medical service to the needy. Additional supplies of anti-biotic medicines, oral rehydration solution (ORS) supplements, and fluids were already distributed to the primary health centres in the district to meet any emergency.
