Public and private concerns in the Kyushu region in Southern Japan are joining forces to test the use of raw garbage from homes and restaurants as a raw material for the synthesis of biodegradable plastic. An experimental plant is to be built, after which tests are to be run for three years to evaluate the economic feasibility and production efficiency of the technology.
