Plastic surgery: HC gives power to pollution control panel

Neha Sinha New Delhi, August 13 Now, DPCC can search, confiscate material from illegal plastic manufacturing and recycling units in city Giving its ruling on arguably the city's biggest choker and polluter, plastics, the Delhi High Court has given more teeth to the normally toothless Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC). The court order seeks power for the DPCC to search and confiscate machines and materials of units found manufacturing plastic bags illegally or recycling plastic in a clandestine manner. Following the order, DPCC will carry out a survey over the next four months to zero in on illegal plastic recycling units in the city. Till date, only inspectors from MCD, Delhi Cantonment and the NDMC had the authority to check whether plastic was used properly
