Defying protests from residents and a local environmental group, the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) today resolved to cut a part of the garden near the municipal office in order to widen the road. The resolution was passed at the council meeting, following a request form Deputy Chief Minister Ravi Naik urging the council to pass a resolution to chop off a portion of the garden.
