Poachers arrested at Nagaon

I n two separate raids against Rhino poachers conducted jointly by Forest officials and police personnel recently total 14 Rhino poachers including four Rhino horn, elephant smuggler and poachers were arrested. Out of the 14 poachers 4 were arrested from the Holiday Hotel of Diphu, they were Dhamdham Suba of Nagaland, Gunu Gait of Dimapur, Nur Islam of Salmara, Nagaon and Saiful Ali of Nagaon. The Forest and police personnel also recovered from them five elephant trunk. Sources said that they also confessed that till the time of their arrest they sold 28 Elephant trunk in foreign countries and admitted that they have poached a good number of Rhinos at Kaziranga National Park (KNP) earlier. Meanwhile with the required information from those arrested poachers at Diphu the police have arrested six more smugglers in Nagaon from different places. The arrested smugglers are Md Taper Ali, Md Indush Ali, Md Jaikir Hussain, Samsul Haque, Md Jamal ali and Sah Jamal Ali. In the meantime the forest officials along with the police have been continuing the drive against the Rhino poachers and Rhino horn smugglers in different places of Nagaon, Karbi Anglong and Golaghat district. With the aim to stop Rhino poaching in Kaziranga National Park which is increasing alarmingly since last few years. It may be mentioned that since 1965 to February total 600 Rhinos were killed by the poachers in KNP, sources added.
