Even as the Andhra Pradesh government is busy assessing the successful results of phase-I of the Andhra Pradesh Forestry project, it has been estimated that green cover worth over Rs. 900 crore has been lost to poachers in the last six years. Forest officials agree that what the department lost to poachers was more than what it gained during the phase-I of the Forestry Project (1994-2001).
