South Goa Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) R K Singh along with other officers and host of forest guards on Tuesday visited the forest area at Polem, Supangudi and other areas in southern part of Canacona taluka to take stock of the illegal felling of trees for firewood.This visit followed after Herald published a exclusive report on Monday, narrating in detail about the looting of forest produce from Polem and its adjoining regions by people from Majali in neighboring Karwar. While confirming the visit of the DCF at Polem, sources at Canacona RFO office said the DCF also visited the other adjoining forest areas.
