Survey : The pollution checking drives of the Department of Transport have been dubbed as "knee jerk" in a recent survey carried out by the Central Road Research Institute. The institute has also emphasised the need for a review of emphasis and priorities of emission controls policies. The survey was conducted to evaluate emission standards, their compliance and for appraisal of the existing pollution checking system in the Capital. The study points out that pollution checks should be carried out on a regular andsustained basis.
