PATNA: Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) chairman Subhash Prasad Singh on Wednesday asked Patnaites to lend their support in controlling the noise pollution levels in the state capital.
While launching the first phase of an extensive awareness campaign against noise pollution, Singh stuck stickers reading 'Don't Honk - Noise is Harmful for Health' on vehicles parked on the premises of Beltron Bhawan. He said, "Continuous exposure to loud noise can lead to partial or complete deafness," and appealed to people to keep the city quiet.
At least 115 NCC cadets and officers stuck stickers on more than 10,000 vehicles at 20 locations, including the Patna Junction premises, Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park's gate number 2, Rajendra Nagar terminal, Kurji Mor, Mithapur bus stand, airport, Maurya Lok, secretariat, high court and different petrol pumps.
NCC officials Brigadier Ranvijay Singh, Col Sanjiv Rastogi, Col R K Verma, Lt Arun Kumar Jha, Lt Sahdev Yadav, Lt Sudhir Kumar and Pravin Kumar Maurya were part of the sticker distribution programme. More such drives will be undertaken by the pollution control board in future.
Patna high court raised the issue of rising noise pollution levels in the city recently.
