- Pollution threatens Kalpasar plans

The state government remains undecided on whether to undertake the ambitious Rs 35,000-crore Kalpasar project, despite the pressing need for it felt by the strong Saurashtra lobby in the Keshubhai Patel ministry. An internal note circulated during a ministerial meeting a couple of days ago has raised a number of serious question marks over the feasibility of the project even while recognising that southern and western areas of Saurashtra would not be able to get Narmada waters, hence the proposed biggest sweet water lake in Asia in the Gulf of Khambhat could possibly help solve the problem.
