Pool to replace trees in Thane

Hundreds of trees planted by nature lovers and non-governmental organisations over last five years have transformed a barren patch at the Sewage Treatment Plant in Thane, Mumbai. But now they face the axe. The Thane Municipal Corporation plans to uproot almost all the trees to make way for a 3,000 square metre swimming pool and gymnasium to be built at a cost of Rs 3.28 crore
