With most parts of the state shrouded in darkness following shutdown of a Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Ltd (TVNL) unit for repairs, Governor K. Sankaranarayanan has written to Union power minister Sushilkumar Shinde asking for additional power from the central pool. In Ranchi, residents of Burdwan Compound, HB Road, Doranda, Hatia, Ratu Road and Bariatu areas suffered most while in Jamshedpur, Mango, Sundernagar, Chhotagovindpur, Adityapur and Parsudih were the worst hit areas. Though the JSEB command areas in Singhbhum had been facing power shortage for the past week, the crisis worsened following a breakdown in the second TVNL unit on Friday evening.
