Good intentioned efforts have been made by the Supreme Court and various other agencies to ensure a cleaner environment. The steps towards moving to Euro-I and Euro-II standards for motor vehicles emissions in Delhi. is definitely a very positive step. However, these steps are not based on any real analysis of the root cause of the pollution in the Indian cities. These are generally based on what has been done abraod and reflect our desire to adopt the same. It is not necessary that, the approach that worked fine in Europe/USA, would work with same efficacy in India.
