Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has given away Golden Shield, the highest award for excellent work, to Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company at a function held New Delhi the other day. It is for the first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh that this award has been given in power transmission sector. This is the fifth award won by Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company in a short span of three years. The award was received by company's chairman-cum-managing director RK Verma. Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company has been given this award for expeditiously installing additional 160 MVA transformer in Pithampur-based 220/132 JV sub-station. Planning Commission member (energy) BK Chaturvedi, Union Energy Secretary Anil Razdan and Central Power Authority chairman Rakesh Nath were present on the occasion. This prestigious shield is given away by Central Power Authority of Union Energy Ministry to those transmission projects, which are completed before schedule. After its constitution, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd had been extending power transmission network excellently. The excellent works done by the company have earned national and international encomiums and awards. Last year, the company was given Silver Shield for completing transmission line work of Indira Sagar hydel power project with a rapid pace. Besides, the company has won two international and one industrial awards. Giving credit of this achievement to hard work and excellence of officers and employees of the company, Chairman-cum-Managing Director RK Verma has congratulated all the employees of the company. Verma has exhorted employees and officers to gird up their loins for expeditious completion of biggest transmission extension programme in the history of Madhya Pradesh which has been launched with the help of loan taken from Asian Development Bank (ADB). He said that after completion of this programme, transmission capacity in the state would go up to 8500 megawatts in only two years. Successful implementation of this programme would help Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company to carve out its special niche not only at the national level but at international level also.
