Life for several women changed after an NGO set up powerlooms and gave them loan for self employment.Meherunisa, Basanti, Kunti and hundreds of women are self-employed running powerlooms in the bastis and villages of poverty-ridden Hazaribagh district, thanks to the Ashram. Ashram, set up 31 years ago by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), an NGO run by Satish and Girija, provides assistance to rural women under the programmes, Development of Women and Child in Rural Areas' (DWCRA) and Training of Rural Youth for Employment'(TRYSEM).
