Collector Rajendra Ratnoo has urged private hospitals and clinics to adopt appropriate medical waste management system, failing which they will face penal action. At a review meeting held here on Tuesday, he told medical officers that they should keep a tab on waste disposal from private hospitals and clinics.
If there are infringements on this score, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board would initiate disciplinary action against defaulting private hospitals and clinics.
Mr. Ratnoo instructed medical officers to create proper awareness of “108” ambulance service and hearse van service (155377) among rural people.
He pointed out that awareness among residents of Kattumannarkoil, Thittakudi and Vriddhachalam about these services was not up to the desired level.
Mr. Ratnoo also said that registration of patients in all government hospitals should be fully computerised.
He also assessed the state of affairs in delivery and children wards, intensive care units, and construction works in government hospitals.
