A committee of concerning officials has been formed for the Parikrama path of Narmada Valley and facilities for the pilgrims. This committee would prepare action plan for construction of Parikrama Path. Decisions were taken for conservation of rivers at this meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. It may be mentioned that Narmada is the only river in the world whose Parikrama is made by the people. So Narmada river is a cultural heritage. Problems of pilgrims would be removed if it is made pollution free. After the implementation of this decision of the government its effect would be long lasting. Chouhan said that conservation of rivers in the state would be made in a large scale and its beginning would be from Narmada river. On the bank of proposed Parikrama Path the facilities of halt and meal would be made facilitative for the pilgrims. This decision is commendable that in less expenses keeping in view environmental protection and conservation facilitative construction work to be made and a planning of planting trees on the bank of Narmada to be prepared. This would help in checking soil erosion. Efforts of government taking Narmada are commendable but conservation of other rivers and their augmentation should also be thought necessary. Narmada is life line of the state while other rivers play an important role on regional level. Narmada river gets water from other rivers. But there is need to pay attention over the flow of rivers. In rainy season the water of rivers should not be submerged. The rivers water level gets lowered soon after the rainy season due to improper arrangement. Seriousness of the government taking conservation and augmentation of rivers is a good sign. If work dedicated and honest work is done in this connection then its better results would come out soon.
