Proposal to farm Pacific oysters angers Democrats

A Tasmanian Government proposal to allow Pacific oysters to be farmed in waters around Flinders Island was like a deliberate release of the mad cow disease on land, a Democrats spokesman said. The report said the Victorian government's marine farming planning review panel approved the plan, pending further studies. But the panel said "the industry regard their(oysters) introduction into Victoria as inevitable."
