The members in the Rajasthan Assembly sought protection to the Adivasi settlers in the State's forests and asked the Government to expedite their identification through physical verification of their claims as settlers prior to 1980. Participating in the discussion on the demands for the Department of Forest and Environment in the Assembly, the MLAs pointed out that some States had refused to comply with the Centre's order to evict the Adivasis from the forest land. The issue of Adivasi settlers came up in the House in the backdrop of their dharna outside the Assembly two days back under the banner of "Jangal Jameen Jan Andolan" to demand titles for their land inside the forest.
