People who face the threat of land acquisition are already up in arms as the survey for the high speed railway corridor from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangalore is progressing in Thrissur district.
The project has invited the wrath of people in the survey period itself as there are complaints that the railway corridor passes through highly populated residential areas.
Though survey is in its final leg in the district, the local bodies and people representatives have not much idea about the project.
High speed train
The high speed train will be able to carry 817 passengers and there will be nine stations between Thiruvananthapuram and Mangalore.
The project is to take off by April next year and fully commissioned by March 2020. Each train running along the route will have eight coaches. They could carry 817 passengers per trip. The loan will be raised from Japan International Cooperation Agency for the project.
The project will be implemented jointly by the State and Union governments and Delhi Metro Corporation.
