Corporates in Maharashtra should explore pragmatic strategies with the state government and build on public-private partnerships in the areas of setting up biotech parks, and special economic zones for the benefit of both the people and the environment, Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, Maharashtra's chief minister, said on Tuesday. Echoing the chief minister's views, Ms Swarup Singh Naik, minister of environment and forest, Maharashtra, stressed the need for prevention of pollution at the source, reduction of noise pollution and conservation of tree cover and forests.
