Extensive use of public transport, or better still cycling or walking to work, is Delhi Chief Minister Ms Sheila Dikshit's prescription for combating traffic congestion in the city. Urging people to refrain from depending heavily on private vehicles that add to the city's traffic woes, the CM tried to woo people to use safe and pollution-free public transport system that she said her government is committed to provide. Addressing the valedictory session of a two-day workshop on Bus Rapid Transit System for Delhi at IIT Delhi, Ms Dikshit said the Capital had more than 45 lakh vehicles plying on its road and about 1 lakh vehicles from neighbouring states enter the Capital every day.
