The Punjab government has revived the green tractor scheme under which Rs 01 million will be given as subsidy to the small farmers for the purchase of a tractor. Besides, the government has set aside Rs 11.3 billion for conservation of water and repairs of the damaged irrigation canals, minors and headwork to bring more lands under cultivation. The government also proposes to establish model fruits and vegetables markets and revamp the entire farm to market system at a cost of Rs 35 billion to modernise the essential commodities supply line.
