Punjab ranks fifth in urbanised States

Punjab will be the fifth major urbanised state after Tamil Nadu, Maharashra, Gujarat and Karnataka, said State Labour and Empowement Minister Jagjit Singh, while inaugurating a national seminar on Capacity Building of Local Self-Government Institutions organised by the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRID) in collabaration with a study group for European policies, Brussels and co-sponsored by the European Commission. To further improve the financial health of urban and local bodies, the State Government has undertaken a number of initiatives to provide quality life to its people, the Minister said.
