People's War Group Naxalites have launched a full-scale recruitment drive in their bastions of Rayagada and Malkangiri, according sources. The outfit, which is reported to have diverted a part of its armed force to undertake operations in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, has been recruiting tribals from Rayagada and Malkangiri districts to augment its depleted cadre strength in Orissa. The growing discontent among the tribals in the southern districts against the Government for its failure to implement welfare schemes in the area is the most important reason for PWG getting such an effusive response from them.
