Despite a record 200 sanitation staff working round- the- clock, the NDMC is struggling to keep a check on the pollution level in New Delhi due to the Republic Day preparations. The most-polluted areas include India Gate, North Block, South Block, Rajpath and other areas of Luteyn's Delhi, where everyone from security personnel to parade participants are leaving behind a trail of garbage. The Horticulture department of the NDMC, in the dock for poor maintenance of a park, for which a fine was also imposed on it recently, is also not happy about the digging and excavation activity going on in these areas.
