Millions of Muscovites struggled to work through heavy white smoke as scores of forest fires, stoked by a record heatwave, raged across the city's green belt. Hundreds of firefighters, using helicopters, planes and dozens of fire engines, battled to control flames racing across some 300 hectares (740 acres) of woodland on Moscow's southern fringe."We have 119 fires," an Emergencies Ministry spokesman said. "But at the moment there are no homes under threat."
