Rain trees: 7 lakh saplings to be planted in monsoon

Around 7.35 lakh saplings will be planted in various parts of Delhi during the monsoon. This was announced by Environment Minister Deep Chand Bandhu in the Capital today. Outlining the tree plantation campaign would be carried out at two levels simultaneously - by the citizens of Delhi as well as by the government. The government's programmes will be supplemented by citizen's effort by carrying out systematic tree plantation. 2.50 lakh saplings will be given free to NGOs and people, 10 check dams will be constructed. The Minister also said that 14 forests are being developed in different parts of the Capital and 36,000 trees would be planted in all the city forest during the year.
