What is said to be the largest conservatory in the world was opened to the public in a vast disused claypit near St Austell, Cornwall, in south-west England. The $111m Eden Project - which has been described as a "rainforest cathedral"-boasts two greenhouses covering an area the size of 12 soccer pitches, which will be filled with thousands of tropical and temperate plants.
