In a major step towards realising the "gram swarajya" dream, over 9,180 villages across Rajasthan will organise gram sabhas (village meetings) on the ensuing Republic Day to endorse the annual plans formulated at the local level. This forms part of the State Government's efforts for strengthening the Pancyayati Raj institutions in accordance with the 73rd amendment to the Constitution.
