The state government had decided to regularise the colonies set up in agricultural land and also the slum occupations in the state. The measure is expected to yield Rs 1,200 crore, enough to finance the expenditure of different local self bodies, including municipalities. This is the second major decision taken by the government since its inception six months ago to raise resources through better management of land revenue. Earlier, the state government had announced in the budget that it would allot land in the Indira Gandhi canal areas to raise revenue to the tune of Rs 200 crore.
