Raje underlines need for effective implementation of projects

Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has underlined the need for effective implementation of projects launched by the urban local bodies and their completion strictly on schedule. She has also asked the urban bodies to submit detailed reports on the projects under operation. Addressing a high-level meeting of the Local Self Department here, Ms. Raje asked the officials concerned to speed up conversion of dry toilets into water-operated toilets and undertake a survey of urban houses lacking the toilet facility. Ms. Raje reviewed the progress of work for regularisation of slum colonies, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Bus Rapid Transit System, sewerage project, heritage conservation, Nirmal Ghat Yojana and strengthening of financial condition of urban bodies. The meeting decided to appoint empowered committees in all districts to take the decision on digging up newly built roads for laying of pipelines, ducts and wires. The urban bodies were also instructed to remove encroachments on public land. The Chief Minister said the facility for common bio-medical waste treatment plant would be started in all the 183 urban bodies and its field reviewed. Besides, action will be taken for conservation of lakes in Udaipur, Mount Abu and Pushkar to attract more tourists to the State. Local Self Secretary Manjeet Singh said about 29,000 title deeds had been distributed in various towns for regularisation of slums, while the works pertaining to drinking water supply, solid waste management, establishment of sewerage and heritage conservation were taken up in 51 towns at a cost of Rs.2,100 crore.
