It is widely believed that the Implementation of the Rajeev Gandhi Drinking water project on an experimental basis in Mangalore district of Karnataka is likely to create acute water scarcity. Though the senior officials agree to it, their official version is entirely different since it is a government project. The borewells sunk for the project is depleting the underground water level and it is feared that the problem would worsen in the next two years.
