Visakhapatnam July 10: The State government's prestigious housing scheme for moderate-income group would very soon become a reality. The housing minister, Mr Botsa Satyanrayana, here on Thursday said that all the proposed houses under the scheme would be handed over to the applicants by 2010 in three phases. A special purpose vehicle Andhra Pradesh Rajiv Swagruha Corporation Ltd (APRSCL) was incorporated recently in this regard to look after the massive affordable housing project. According to a recent demand survey conducted by the government it has decided to construct around 1,74,748 houses in 94 municipalities across the state at a cost of Rs 20,769 crore. About 45,000 houses would be completed in the first phase by 2007-08, 75,000 houses in the second phase by 2008-09 and 54, 748 houses in the third phase by 2009-10. Tenders for construction of 1.33 lakh houses spread over 37 municipalities in 20 districts were called, said the housing minister. Tenders would be finalised by August first week and the construction would start by the end of August. With regards to Vizag district the minister said that around 11,280 applied under GVMC limits, 12,356 in Bheemunipatnam municipality and 3,049 in Anakapalli municipality. The houses under the GVMC limits are under tendering stage. They would be constructed under G +20 and G +14 category at Yendada on the Bheemili Beach Road and Nadupur near Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The venture coming up in an area of 56.25 acres at Yendada was named, as Adraja Township and the township at Nadupur in an extent of 150 acres would be called Sri Visakha Township.
