Bad luck seems to be chasing Rakhi Garhi- a site belonging to the Indus Valley civilisation-located in Hissar district of Haryana. It was years of academic squabbling and conflicting approach towards Rakhi Garhi which kept the excavation proposal under the wraps for almost 34 years. The excavation approval for Rakhi Garhi--which though discovered in 1963 --was granted only recently . Even then, when excavation started efforts of the excavating team comprising experts from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the the Institute of Archaeology, New Delhi , were marred by floods and rains. Now when the weather is conducive to carry out the excavation work, the villagers have raised the voice of protest.
