Rallis may re-enter home pesticide mkt

Not many people know that Tik-20, the popular insecticide brand, was a Tata group product. The brand was withdrawn from the market several years ago, marking the exit of Tata group company Rallis India from the household pesticides business. The group, whose business interests range from salt to software, has decided to re-enter the household pesticide space. The agro-chemical firm is readying a blueprint to tap the household pest control segment, a Tata group executive said. This market, estimated to be around Rs 1,600 crore, is dominated by Godrej Sara Lee, Reckitt Benckiser, SC Johnson and Jyothy Laboratories. For Rallis, its foray into the household pesticides is an extension of its agri-insecticides and seed treatment business.
